What are Same Day Crowns?

Imagine getting your crown made in a single day, right here in our office. No need to take an impression, send it to a dental lab, and wait for them to send back the completed crown. With our same-day crowns, we use the latest in computer imaging and design to create and manufacture your crown right here in our office.

• Instead of a messy impression taken with dental putty, we use an intraoral camera and digital imaging to get a highly accurate picture of your mouth and teeth.
• These images are used to create a 3D image of your new crown.
• The images are sent to our CEREC milling machine, which will manufacture the crown guided by the images.
• Once the crown is complete, we’ll fit it over your damaged tooth, smooth any rough edges, and attach it permanently. Then, we’ll polish it to a shine. And just like that, you walk out of our office with a permanent crown!

What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics,” indicating that the process of creating the crown can be performed at the side of the dental chair, is economical, and uses attractive ceramics.

CEREC uses CAD (Computer-Aided Drafting) to create a 3-dimensional model of the crown based on images obtained from the intraoral scans taken from the patient’s mouth. The milling machine uses these CAD images to carve the actual crown using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing). The CEREC system ensures accuracy throughout the process.
