As records will show, this was my first visit to Dr. Summer Rydel’s dentist practice. My first impression of the front desk and waiting area was that it was very clean. The person at the front desk greeted me upon arrival and advised me that I was checked in and to have a seat and that someone would be with me shortly. Not long after, I was greeted by my hygienist, Ashleigh, who directed me to the station where my cleaning would take place. Her station was also clean and tidy, and we started my visit with a short discussion regarding my dental history. I have had a lot of work done on my teeth and jaw including a Gum Graph, palatal expander, braces (twice), and upper and lower jaw reconstruction due to a hereditary under bite. Ashleigh was very pleasant, and we had a very good rapport. She was attentive and informative and was very clear about the procedure and the direction we were taking. Because it had been a long time since I was last in the dentist office, my cleaning was more evasive than a routine cleaning. After taking my x-rays and completing her initial examination she consulted with Dr. Rydel, and they agreed on the procedure and Ashleigh explained the process and advised on the various courses of action. Because this was not a routine cleaning my insurance would need to be reviewed to ensure coverage. I was surprised that my hygienist was the one that would explain my coverage, but regardless, she did an excellent job of breaking down the expense and explaining my out-of-pocket expense for the procedure. Upon approval from me we began the procedure. As much as dental work can be gentle, Ashleigh did an amazing job. She was efficient and attentive, always asking me if I was comfortable if I winced and reciprocated with a local numbing agent, moving to other teeth while the agent could absorb. After the cleaning we discussed my follow up visit and she explained the use of a medicated mouth wash that she wanted me to use. Before leaving her station, we scheduled my follow up appointment and then she walked me up to the front desk and asked me if I had any additional questions. My payment was processed, and I exited the office, feeling great about my experience, and my cleaning. While most of my interaction was with Ashleigh, Dr. Rydel was also very friendly and informative and from my experience, she has hired very good people to not only work for her, but also to represent her practice. As it often is, reviews are usually left when a patient has a bad experience, but as someone that is in the service industry, where reviews are a vital part of advertising and closing new business, I felt compelled to leave this review so that others looking for a dentist would know that they are in good hand at A Summer Smile. Ashleigh is not only good at her job, but an asset to Dr. Rydel’s team. 5 starts, would recommend.

Friendly, not trying to sell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need, clean - even a comfy chair! Just an all around great experience. Ashleigh took the time to explain everything she was doing/what it meant in relation to my gum health, etc. She answered all my questions and gave recommendations regarding the care I should be providing at home in order to improve and maintain healthy guns and teeth. Can’t wait to go back!
